Iconomical signs contract with the UK

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Iconomical have been awarded a contract with The Stationery Office, the UK Government’s official publisher, on behalf of the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI), to develop a prototype browser for the London Gazette, the UK’s Official Newspaper of Record.

“Published By Authority” since 1665, the Gazette carries official notices of legislation throughout the country. Every working day, a new edition, containing 300-500 official notices, is issued. Since 2007, semantic mark-up has been added to notices, creating an unprecedented database resource of legislative history for the 21st century.

Iconomical has the honour to develop tools for exploration and analysis for this groundbreaking archive, for the benefit of researchers and policy makers alike.
