Dialogues House, the business incubator of Dutch Bank ABN AMRO and New Media incubator MediaGuild are pleased to announce the first National Day of the incubator as a part of Picnic 08, the leading Dutch new media conference.

As of late, the phenomenon of incubation is widespread among a host of different companies and organizations. Whereas businesses such as ABN AMRO may use an incubator to foster innovation and to stimulate entrepreneurship, Dutch Universities such as Delft and Amsterdam employ incubators to learn about new ways to apply and exploit their vast output of research to the market. In turn, the government lends her support to incubation via initiatives such as MediaGuild, as to stimulate and support entrepreneurship, given its potential for positive effects on the economy. After last year’s highly successful Creative Boat Tour event, part of the annual Picnic new media conference, the legacy continues with another installment being prepped for September 25. Syntens, platform for entrepreneurship, the Amsterdam branch of the Chamber of Commerce and new media business incubator MediaGuild all have their stake in the invite-only event, that combines a networking boat tour from the Picnic ‘08 festival area to a project market and fancy drink in the lobby of the fully renovated Amsterdam Branch of the Chamber of Commerce.

A select yet diversified group of representatives including company owners, venture capitalists, politicians and journalists among others, will be invited for the occasion, which seeks to provide a snapshot of some of the leading creative business initiatives in the Amsterdam area today. To provide a balanced overview, projects from the perspectives of the three initiators have been cherrypicked, representing various fields of expertise and diversified stages of development.

We can probably start a healthy discussion about whether selling t-shirts is guild member Postmachina’s core business… but then again.. it surely fits within the realm of our business incubator.
